[Movies] Sofia Vergara in Talks to Co-Star in Heat with Jason Statham

A new action-thriller in the works...
Variety (via ComingSoon) reports that Sofia Vergara is eyeing a lead role opposite Jason Statham in the upcoming movie Heat from Simon West.
The movie would be a remake of the 1987 feature film that starred Burt Reynolds. The remake is being written by two-time Oscar winner William Goldman who also wrote the original screenplay based on his own novel.
The action-thriller tells the story of a recovering gambling addict (Statham) who makes a living providing protection in the rough parts of the gambling world. Statham's character ultimately refuses to resort to gunplay and uses hand and edged weapons in combat. When a close friend of his is beaten by a high-rolling mobster, he helps her get revenge and ends up in even more trouble than he originally imagined.
