[TV] American Horror Story Season Three to Be Set in New Orleans
Posted by Jeremy Thomas on 03.08.2013

American Horror Story's Frances Conroy has revealed that the show's third season will be set in New Orleans. Conroy, who played the elderly maid in the first season and the angel of death in season two, told EW that the show will take place in the Louisiana city.

"I'll be doing about 10 of the 13 episodes, but beyond that, we don't know anything yet," said Conroy. "I'm waiting to see what's written to see who I'll be playing. I haven't seen any scripts yet, so all I know is that it's going to be in New Orleans and who will be involved."

Ryan Murphy has previously said that New Orleans would involve a "Romeo & Juliet" style storyline and be based on true events, with Kathy Bates playing a real-life character who is an outright villain. It is being speculated that the series may therefore revolve around Marie Delphine LaLaurie (aka Madame LaLaurie), who lived from 1775 through 1842 and was a a Louisiana-born socialite and serial killer known for her involvement in the torture and murder of black slaves. LaLaurie was active in the city up until 1834 when discovery of her crimes forced her to flee to Paris. The Royal Street mansion where LaLaurie lived is still a prominent landmark in the city.
