[Movies] The Simpsons Movie Not Getting a Sequel in Near Future
Posted by Jeffrey Harris on 03.10.2013

The Hollywood Reporter spoke with The Simpsons creator Matt Groening who has reportedly ruled out making another sequel to The Simpsons Movie in the near future.

The Simpsons Movie was released in 2007 and made $527 million at the worldwide box office. However there are currently no plans to make a sequel according to Groening.

At a Q&A session with entertainment lawyers at the UCLA Law School, Groening said: "It took us four years (to make) and it killed us. (The movie) stole animators from the show and drained resources."

Long-time director and producer of the show, David Silverman, said that sequel could be possible but he didn't think there would be one for about a decade, saying, "Maybe in another 10, 15 years."

The Simpsons TV series began airing in 1989 and has been on for over 500 episodes and is now in its 24th season.
