At least two more runs of the show...
Benedict Cumberbatch has confirmed that Sherlock is running for two more seasons (or two more series, if you're in the UK). Cumberbatch spoke with Radio Time and said that a deal is in place for a season to follow the upcoming third one.
"We've agreed to two more series but I could get into trouble for saying that," Cumberbatch said. "All I know at the moment is I'm doing these three [Season 3 episodes] and another three."
Cumberbatch noted that he would love to keep playing the character beyond that, saying, "It just depends on Martin [Freeman] and I's availability, how long we can keep it going. It depends on Steven's ability. I'd love to keep it going."
Cumberbatch and Freeman are both breaking out big time in film, with Freeman playing Bilbo in the Hobbit trilogy and Cumberbatch having major roles in The Hobbit, Star Trek Into Darkness and more. Season Three had to change their production dates to work around their film commitments. The third season begins filming next Monday.
