Is that the kiss of death?
NBC has made several changes to its schedule, according to The Hollywood Reporter. This is all in preparation for the return of The Voice.
These changes include moving Smash to 9 PM on Saturdays starting April 6 and it will continue to air in the slot until the season ends after seventeen episodes. The second-season premiere had bad ratings when it came on in early February. It had a 1.2 rating with adults 18-49 and 4.5 million viewers. The most recent episode had less than three million viewers and a 0.9 rating in same-day viewing.
Taking its place on Tuesdays will be the unscripted relationship show Ready for Love from producer Eva Longoria. It will premiere on April 9 with a two-hour episode at 9 PM after The Voice, which begins season four on March 25.
Meanwhile, Go On will move from 9 PM on Tuesdays to 9:30 PM Thursdays on April 4 and 11 (which will be the season finale), just after The Office. The April 4 episode will feature Matthew Perry's Friends co-star Courteney Cox. Meanwhile, both 1600 Penn and Up All Night, which both aired after The Office, have done well in the ratings.
The New Normal will air its one-hour season finale at 9 PM April 2 after The Voice. It could double as a series finale. Whitney will end its season with a one hour episode at 8 PM on March 27.
The Celebrity Apprentice will grow to two hours after April 14 from 9-11 PM through the end of May. NBC is putting encore episodes of The Voice on Sundays on March 31 and April 7 from 7-10 PM, leading into new episodes of Apprentice.
NBC's show Revolution, the top scripted drama, will return on the same night as The Voice.
