4,600 titles and four DVDs a month...
Redbox's streaming video subscription is now open to the public. Gigaom reports that the service, which is a joint venture between Redbox and Verizon, is now available and offers 4,600 streaming titles as well as four DVD rentals for $8 a month.
Redbox Instant CEO Shawn Strickland noted that they will not be getting into original content just yet the way that Netflix has with House of Cards, saying that the topic is "really premature" at this point. He added that the beta test revealed that most subscribers were interested in the ability to still watch discs through the kiosks. In terms of game consoles, it will be available exclusively on the Xbox 360.
