Alex Garland is set to make his debut as a director. THR reports that Garland, best known for writing 28 Days Later, Sunshine, Never Let Me Go and Dredd, will tackle a sci-fi thriller called Ex Machina, which he wrote as well.
The film is about a billionaire inventor who arranges for a young employee to spend a week at his home to test an artificially intelligent female robot that the inventor has constructed. Production is set for later this year.
