Writers have already been found...
Deadline reports that Disney is remaking Pete's Dragon and has hired writers David Lowery (Aint Them Bodies Saints) and Toby Halbrooks to write it. Jim Whitaker will produce.
They will reinvent the core story and the new film will not be a musical.
The original film had an animated dragon mixed wit ha live-action cast that included Mickey Rooney, Red Buttons, Shelley Winters, Helen Reddy and Jim Dale. Sean Marshall played the orphan boy who comes to town with his dragon, as his abusive adoptive parents followed him.
