[TV] Martin Scorsese Developing Series Based on Gangs of New York
Posted by Jeffrey Harris on 03.28.2013

The Hollywood Reporter says that Martin Scorsese and Miramax are teaming up to develop a television series based on Scorsese's 2002 movie, Gangs of New York.

The series would reportedly take place in New York and other cities like Chicago as the show explores the birth of organized crime in the United States at the turn of the 20th century. The project has not yet been picked up by a network.

Scorsese said, "This time and era of America's history and heritage is rich with characters and stories that we could not fully explore in a two-hour film. A television series allows us the time and creative freedom to bring this colorful world, and all the implications it had and still does on our society, to life."
