[Movies] College Kids Invent Elysium-Like Exoskeleton
Posted by Jeremy Thomas on 05.03.2013

If you've seen the trailers for Elysium, you've probably noticed the upper-body exoskeleton worn by Matt Damon's Max De Costa and thought it pretty cool-looking. As it turns out, a group of college kids have already invented something similar. A group of students at the University of Pennsylvania have created the TitanArm, a powered, upper-body exoskeleton that is capable of lifting fifty pounds and featuring three degrees of freedom in shoulder mobility.

The TitanArm was invented in order to help people with limited mobility, but if it's like any other invention it'll be weaponized soon enough, right? Elysium, here we come. Check out the video below, and Elysium on August 9th.
