Coming Soon reports that Paramount Pictures is planning an "Ultimate Double Feature" with Star Trek Into Darkness and World War Z at select AMC Theatres, Carmike Cinemas, Marcus Theatres, Regal Cinemas and other participating theaters in RealD 3D and 2D.
The double feature runs from Friday, August 30 to Thursday, September 5. Fans can see both movies for the price of one ticket. You can get your ticket here, or at Fandango, Movietickets.com and theater box offices.
Here's a synopsis for Star Trek: Star Trek Into Darkness follows the crew of The Enterprise as they are called back home to Earth in the wake of a shocking act of terror from within their own organization. In defiance of regulations and with a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk leads his crew on a manhunt to capture an unstoppable force of destruction and bring those responsible to justice. As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew.
The film earned over $450 million worldwide since being released in May. It was written by Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman and Damon Lindelof and directed by J.J. Abrams. Abrams produced with Bryan Burk through Bad Robot Productions, along with Lindelof, Kurtzman and Orci. Jeffrey Chernov and Skydance Productions' David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Paul Schwake were the executive producers.
Here's a synopsis for World War Z: The film revolves around an ex-United Nations investigator Gerry Lane (Pitt), who traverses the world in a race against time to stop a pandemic that is toppling armies and governments and threatening to decimate humanity itself.
The film also stars Mireille Enos and James Badge Dale. It earned $500 million and is Brad Pitt's highest-grossing release. The film was released by Paramount and Skydance Production with Hemisphere Media Capital and GK Films. It was a Plan B Entertainment/2DUX2 production. Marc Forster directed from a script by Matthew Michael Carnahan and Drew Goddard & Damon Lindelof, and story by Matthew Michael Carnahan and J. Michael Straczynski. The story and script were both based on the novel by Max Brooks. The film was produced by Brad Pitt, Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner and Ian Bryce.
