Disney and Pixar's Monsters University will pass the $700 million mark worldwide this weekend, according to The Hollywood Reporter. This will make it the fourth highest-grossing film of the year after Disney's Iron Man 3 ($1.2 billion), Universal's Despicable Me 2 ($806.8 million) and Universal's Fast & Furious 6 ($786.7 million).
This is also the fourth Disney/Pixar to hit $700 million after Toy Story 3 ($1.06 billion), Finding Nemo ($922 million) and Up ($731 million). The movie is also expected to pass Toy Story 3 as the biggest Pixar release in China, earning over $19 million.
The film is still set to open in Korea on September 12. In terms of box office, Disney is having one of its best years ever.
