Football brings the viewers...
Last night saw the NFL return for the opening game of the season. Even with the start of the game delayed until 9 PM ET due to lightning, it didn't stop NBC from winning the night with the Denver Broncos beating the Baltimore Ravens (and Peyton Manning throwing seven touchdown passes). The numbers will likely drop some due to the live broadcast, but for now it's a big win for NBC. Meanwhile, Big Brother was up for CBS, as were Wipeout and Rookie Blue in the demographic for ABC.
NBC won with 23.2 million viewers and a 13.7 rating/22 share in households. It was followed by CBS (5.9 million, 3.8/6), ABC (3.8 million, 2.3/4), FOX (1.6 million, 1.1/2) and The CW (677,000, 0.4/1).
In the adults 18-49 demographic, NBC won again with a 9.2 rating, followed by CBS (1.5), ABC (1.1), FOX (0.5) and The CW (0.2).
