[Movies] Tron: Uprising Director To Helm Ninjago Movie

The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Charlie Bean, director of Disney XD's series Tron: Uprising, will now work on Ninjabo for Warner Bros. It is based on the popular Lego toy line. Dan and Kevin Hageman, the brothers who came up with the story for The Lego Movie, are writing the script. The toy line already has a series on Cartoon Network called Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu, which they also wrote.

Ninjago features ninjas, samurais, and senseis fighting dragons, snake men, and Lord Gagmadon, "an evil warlord banished to an underworld who now seeks to return to power."

Dan Lin and Roy Lee, who produced The Lego Movie, will also produce Ninjago with Chris Miller and Phil Lord, who directed The Lego Movie (due out February 7, 2014). Jill Wilfert will executive produce for Lego (and oversees all Lego movies). Courtenay Valenti will oversee for Warner Bros.

This is Bean's feature debut as a director. He previously helmed Cartoon Network's Robotboy and was a layout artist, storyboard artist and writer for Samurai Jack, Dexter's Laboratory, The Powerpuff Girls and The Ren & Stimpy Show.
