The three main stars...
Radar Online reports that the three biggest stars of The Big Bang Theory (Johnny Galecki, Jim Parsons and Kaley Cuoco), are planning to hold out for large salary increases from Warner Bros Television before going ahead with season eight of the #1 sitcom in primetime from CBS. Just before the season seven premiere on September 26, the cast plan to get a deal for the entire cast for the eighth season.
Parsons, Galecki and Cuoco will demand salary increases to $500,000 per episode for the 24-episode season, plus a percentage of the series' profits in syndication, which they received in the last round of negotiations. They all currently earn $350,000 per episode.
This is similar to what David Schwimmer, Jennifer Aniston, Matthew Perry, Lisa Kudrow, Courteney Cox and Matt LeBlanc did to get $1 million an episode for the last season of Friends in 2002, banding together to get the increase. The stars believe that CBS and Warner Bros need to have the show back and will give in.
A source said: "The cast is already talking about it the next round of negotiations. They know the critical position Big Bang holds on CBS' prime-time schedule and the only thing preventing them getting what they want would be a spectacular ratings demise this season. That isn't about to happen anytime soon. They'll put on a united-front during negotiations."
The CBS show has been nominated for eight Emmys and ended its sixth season with 18.6 million viewers and a 6.2 rating in the adults 18-49 demographic, the highest-rated comedy in both measures.
The source added: "What they've been able to achieve is a feat unheard of for a show in recent history and they all deserve to get compensated for it."
