CBS wins the night...
Modern Family's season five premiere was down from last year, but still managed to get the top spot in the demographic. The premieres of every returning show were down from their premieres last year, with Law & Order: SVU being the only show to be higher than last year. Modern Family fell by almost three million viewers and more than a point in the demographic. The Middle and Nashville were also down for ABC, as were Criminal Minds and CSI for CBS. NBC's Revolution took a large hit from last year, especially since it wasn't helped this time by The Voice. However, it was even with last season's final episodes. New comedy Back in the Game had decent numbers and kept most of its lead-in. The X Factor was up from last week for FOX.
CBS won with 9.9 million and a 6.2 rating/10 share in households, followed by ABC (8.8 million, 5.5/9), NBC (8.6 million, 5.6/9), FOX (7.6 million, 4.6/7) and The CW (906,000, 0.6/1).
In the adults 18-49 demographic, ABC won with a 2.8 rating, followed by FOX (2.5), CBS (2.4), NBC (2.4) and The CW (0.3).
