Based on Gil Thorpe...
Deadline reports that ABC's Modern Family may get a spin-off. ABC and 20th Century Fox TV (which produces the series) have met to talk about a possible new show from the comedy.
One concept being discussed is a show based on Rob Riggle's Gil Thorpe, who appeared in two episodes in season four. This idea is being championed by executive producers Paul Corrigan and Brad Walsh, who would run the spin-off and write the script. Co-creator/executive producer Steve Levitan would have some involvement, but co-creator/executive producer Christopher Lloyd would focus on the main show.
Thorpe is Southern California's most successful real estate agent and a rival of Phil Dunphy (Ty Burrell). Phil's wife Claire (Julie Bowen) even worked for him briefly. He has a history of inserting his name into words like "Thorpedoed" and "Gil Pickles."
Corrigan and Walsh (who became a team after meeting in New York University's film school) have been with the series since day one. They wrote "Career Day", which featured Thorpe.
