But she's still on board for now...
E! News reports that Dakota Johnson is also having a hard time dealing with the attention she's received since being cast in Fifty Shades of Grey. This is rumored to be one of the reasons her former co-star, Charlie Hunnam, dropped out of the production.
A source said: "Dakota is having a very hard time dealing with all the press. When she first got the role, it was way too much for her."
The source added that Johnson went from being a "virtual unknown" to someone "everyone wants a piece of." The source added: "It's been tough."
As we previously reported, Hunnam dropped out this past weekend. Universal Pictures and Focus Features said in a statement: "The filmmakers of Fifty Shades of Grey and Charlie Hunnam have agreed to find another male lead given Hunnam's immersive TV schedule which is not allowing him time to adequately prepare for the role of Christian Grey."
Several sources, including E!, have said that the spotlight is the major reason why. A source said: "More than anything he hates attention and being in Fifty Shades of Grey would force him to do lots of media. That's really not his thing. Charlie doesn't want to be massively famous. Plus, he hates conforming and being told what to do. This role would force him to have to be something he is not."
This comes after Hunnam said in September that the role was a "big responsibility."
Johnson is the daughter of Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson. She had a small part in The Social Network but is mostly known for her role in the FOX sitcom Ben and Kate.
At the time she was cast, her mother tweeted: "My beautiful child Dakota has been chosen to play Anna Steele in 50 Shades!!! Look out world! Here she comes!!! #proudmama."
