Jonas Cuaron is on board...
Variety reports that Gravity writer Jonas Cuaron is set to work with Warner Bros again on their Atlantis film The Lost City. Akiva Goldsman will produce through Weed Road Pictures, along with Torry Tunnell and Joby Harold from Safehouse Pictures. Lynn Harris will oversee for WB.
The story has been kept secret but the film is expected to be a new take on the mythical underwater kingdom.
Warner Bros. was looking for another project to bring Cuaron in on. He has been the choice for a while, but had to figure out how the scheduling for his next directorial effort, Desierto. That film stars Gael Garcia Bernal (who executive produces) and has Cuaron working with his father Alfonso again along with his uncle Carlos, who will both produce the film with Jonas and Garcia. It's being described as similar to Manhunter and is set on the Mexican border. Production will start early next year.
WB sees The Lost City as a big priority, and even had Peter Jackson considering it at one point.
