[Movies] Daniel Radcliffe Explains Why He's Not Involved In Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them Posted by Joseph Lee on 10.23.2013
Find out his reasoning...
In an interview with IGN, Daniel Radcliffe explained exactly why he won't be involved with the Harry Potter spin-off Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
He said that he was as surprised as anyone else to hear that J.K. Rowling would write the screenplay based on the book she wrote as a tie-in. He said that even if there were a role for Potter in a film, he may not return as he sees no benefit.
He said: ""Everything I've heard I've heard from Jo…in interviews. There's no reason they should tell me anything because I'm not involved. You don't want to say no because it just sounds like you're being dismissive and then that sort of gets taken out of context on the internet and people start going, 'oh, he's turned his back on it, and it's this and that' and it's not any of that, but the reality is I will have worked for some time on that stage to get people to see me as an actor rather than just that character. So I'm not sure what the benefits would necessarily be of stepping back to it."
You can next see Radcliffe in Kill Your Darlings, which is on limited release in the US and will debut in the UK on December 6.
