According to the Hollywood Reporter, police are investigating a second extortion attempt on the Hong Kong set of Transformers: Age of Extinction. A government statement said that a production company crewmember was setting up on the roof of a building in Kowloon this past Tuesday when four men "intimidated her and asked for money."
She called the police, who then arrested a 35-year-old man. The three others are still being sought. The case has been called blackmail and a police anti-triad unit is investigating. Triads are Chinese organized crime gangs.
Police arrested two brothers last week after Michael Bay was assaulted at another location. They reportedly wanted 100,000 Hong Kong dollars ($13,000).
The film will be out in June 2014. Some of it is set in Hong Kong, where filming has caught the attention of the local people.
There have been nonviolent attempts at extortion on location filming in the past for other films. Residents show up during filming and make noise or interrupt shots in order to get paid. Studios have been more willing to pay residents in neighborhoods where films are shot recently than they have in the past.
