Singer does a Twitter Q&A...
Here are responses from Bryan Singer given during his X-Men: Days of Future Past Q&A session on Twitter today. The film opens on May 23rd, 2014 and stars Hugh Jackman, Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, Nicholas Hoult, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore, Peter Dinklage, Omar Sy, Halle Berry, Daniel Cudmore, Fan Bingbing, Boo Boo Stewart, Adan Canto, Evan Peters, Josh Helman and Lucas Till.
On tomorrow's trailer: Tomorrow's trailer is primarily a character piece, as most of our VFX are not yet finished.
On what it was like bringing both casts together: Awesome, and slightly intimidating.
On if it was a challenge working with such a big case: I was real comfortable with the original cast and knew the #FirstClass cast as a writer/producer but not yet as a director. With the exception of @NicholasHoult of course -- but they were all fantastic and made the experience fun.
on the funniest moment on-set: In between shooting a serious scene on Xavier's private jet, Michael, Nick, Hugh and James dancing to #BlurredLines #IHaveTheFootage
On how the movie makes itself new and fresh: It's all in the cast. They are great actors who know their characters - who know how to bring them to life.
On whether he's tried Hugh Jackman's legendary workout regimen: Someone tweeted that I was gaining weight, so I tried the workout... for a day.
On what to expect from Mystique: She's a much more hardened kick-ass character than she was in #FirstClass.
On what he's editing right now: I'm tinkering with a piece in the opening that helps set up the story - but I'm in a good place with the cut. A bit ahead of schedule
On the film's tone and style: Although there is a great deal of humor, the overall tone is a bit darker than previous films, particularly because of the stakes.
On how many new characters there are: A lot -- Blink, Bishop, Sunspot, Warpath, Ink, Quicksilver, etc.
On whether any of the cast are practical jokers: Yes. Two words. James. McAvoy. #IHaveTheFootageOnMyiPhone
On what keeps bringing him back to the franchise: I love the the characters. There's always a new place to go in the #XMen universe. #TimeTravel #Sentinels
on what X-Men he hasn't used yet that he'd like to: Yeah, Gambit, Deadpool, and a few others I'd rather not mention.
on whether this film will echo '70s cinema like First Class echoed '60s Bond films: Yes, in the colors, some of the style & music. I also used 16 & 8mm footage which I operated myself for some scenes which was fun.
