He claims they stole his idea...
Justin Timberlake's 2011 film In Time may not have been a big win for Twentieth Century Fox, but it could become even less of one now. TMZ reports that Odysseus Lappas has filed suit against the company claiming that they stole ideas from his 1996 screenplay Time Card for the film.
Lappas claims in the suit that he wrote the script about a man who lives in a future world where people died at age 25 unless they can purchase more time. He alleges that Fox offered him $80,000 for the rights but that he turned them down because he wanted to produce or direct the film. Fox then released In Time fifteen years later which contains several nearly identical elements.
The film grossed $37.5 million. Lappas is asking for $4.5 million.
