[Movies] Disney Acquires Rights to Indiana Jones Franchise

The final piece of the Lucasfilm puzzle...
While Walt Disney bought Lucasfilm last year, one thing which didn't come their way was the distribution rights for the Indiana Jones franchise. While Disney had ownership of the films, Paramount retained the distribution rights; however, that's no longer the case. Variety reports that Disney has reached a distribution and marketing agreement with Paramount for the franchise which will allow Disney to distribute and market future films in the franchise.
This is a similar situation to when Disney had to buy the rights to distribute Iron Man 3 and The Avengers, which had been under Marvel's partnership with Paramount. The latter studio earned hundreds of millions from those films despite having nothing to do with them.
It's worth noting that there is not currently an announced Indiana Jones film in the works, though all the principles (George Lucas, Steven Spielberg and Harrison Ford) have said they're interested if Lucas can get the right script together. Lucas has said a story is ready but still needs a MacGuffin along the lines of the Ark of the Covenant, Sankara Stones, Holy Grail or Crystal Skull.
Paramount will retain the distribution rights to the first four films in the franchise.
