[Movies] Jason Clarke In Talks To Play John Connor In Terminator: Genesis
Posted by Joseph Lee on 12.11.2013

Deadline reports that Jason Clarke (Zero Dark Thirty, The Great Gatsby, White House Down) is in talks to play John Connor, the leader of the rebellion against Skynet in Terminator: Genesis. This comes after the news that Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones) was named the frontrunner for Sarah Connor (with Brie Larson still in the mix). Alan Taylor (Thor: the Dark World) will direct. Arnold Schwarzenegger is expected to return to the role of the cyborg. The film will involve time travel to the future.

The film is being produced by Skydance Productions' David Ellison and Megan Ellison's Annapurna. Paramount will distribute and has set up a July 1, 2015 release date. Annapurna bought the rights for $20 million and the belief is that they will be able to make at least two films before certain copyrights go back to creator James Cameron. Laeta Kalogridis and Patrick Lussier wrote the script.

Clarke can next be seen in Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and Child 44. He is also part of the ensemble cast for Baltasar Kormakur's Everest, which is produced by Working Title and Cross Creek. That film also stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Josh Brolin and John Hawkes.
