It caused it to hydroplane...
TMZ reports that Paul Walker's family and accident reconstruction experts believe that he died after the Porsche he was riding in hydroplaned thanks to reflective plastic markers in the street.
The family has been contacting stunt experts who have went to the crash site and came up with the theory that a speeding car that hits the plastic markers (Botts' Dots) will hydroplane, which means the driver will lose control. A car going speeds close to 90 miles per hour will lose traction after hitting a series of the "dots". It's similar to driving on ice. The Porsche isn't helped by the fact it was given racing tires that don't have much tread.
Porsche sent a memo to dealers in 2004 warning about control problems. They wrote: "This vehicle cannot drive over a Foster Beer can that is lying on its side. It will crush the can and damage the carbon fiber under panels. You need to be aware of what type of road surface you are on (dips, pot holes, seam heights, etc.)."
Police haven't come to a conclusion on the cause of the accident but they are looking at the theory as a viable one.
