[Movies] XLrator Media Acquires Rights To The Scribbler
Posted by Joseph Lee on 12.20.2013

Coming Soon reports that XLrator Media has acquired North American Distribution Rights For The Scribbler, which stars Katie Cassidy (Arrow), Michelle Trachtenberg (Gossip Girl), Eliza Dushku (Dollhouse), Gina Gershon (Bound), Sasha Grey (The Girlfriend Experience), Garret Dillahunt (Winter's Bone), Michael Imperioli (The Sopranos) and Billy Campbell (The Killing) It will be released in theaters in the fall of next year.

Here's a synopsis: The Scribbler follows Suki (Katie Cassidy), a young woman confronting her destructive mental illness using "The Siamese Burn," an experimental machine designed to eliminate multiple personalities. The closer Suki comes to being "cured," she's haunted by a thought... what if the last unwanted identity turns out to be her?

XLator Media CEO Barry Gordon said: "Combining cool sci-fi elements with ass-kicking action from a cast of hot and talented actresses, The Scribbler captures the mind-bending, anarchistic spirit of the original graphic novel and brings it thrillingly to the big screen."

The film was produced by New Artists Alliance, was directed by John Suits and written by Daniel Schaffer, who also wrote and illustrated the original 2006 graphic novel.

Schaffer added: "New Artists Alliance have pulled off a remarkable adaptation, staying true to the themes of the graphic novel while adding a wealth of visual treats I never even thought of. Fans of the book won't be disappointed. Fans of Katie Cassidy may actually pee themselves when they get a load of her performance as Suki."

It was produced by NAA's Gabriel Cowan and Ken F. Levin of NightSky Productions. It was executive produced by Kerry Johnson, Dallas Sonnier and Jack Heller of Caliber Media.
