[TV] Get a New Look at Star Wars Rebels' Primary Villain
Posted by Jeremy Thomas on 12.30.2013

StarWars.com has released a new look at the primary villain of its coming animated TV series Star Wars Rebels. The villain, known as "The Inquisitor," was shown off in the below pics of a new .75-inch action figure from Hasbro.

The Inquisitor is listed as "the Empire's Jedi hunter." In the Star Wars Expanded Universe, Emporer Palpatine/Darth Sidious had a group of Dark Side-aligned Force users (including former Jedi) known as the Inquisitorus who hunted down all the Jedi not killed under Order 66 as shown in Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith. They were a secret divison of Imperial Intelligence. Inquisitors became a major part of the era between Episode III and Episode IV with the likes of Artinnis Tremayne, Malorum, Hydra and Jerec commanding the group at one time or another.

The upcoming series is set during that time between the two films, when the Empire is securing its grip on the galaxy and hunting down the last of the Jedi Knights as a fledgling rebellion against the Empire is taking shape. It premieres in the fall of 2014.
