[Movies] Matt Reeves To Direct Next Planet of the Apes Movie
Posted by Joseph Lee on 01.07.2014

Deadline reports that Matt Reeves will be back to direct the next Planet of the Apes movie for 20th Century Fox and Chernin Entertainment. Reeves previously directed Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, which will be released on July 11, 2014. Amanda Silver and Rick Jaffa will write once again after Dawn and Rise of the Planet of the Apes. The latter was directed by Rupert Wyatt in 2011 and earned $482 million worldwide. Reeves will likely begin working on the new film immediately.

Dawn stars Gary Oldman, Jason Clarke and Keri Russell, with Andy Serkis returning to play Caesar, the intelligent ape that led the breakout from a lab before the human race was wiped out. This will feature the survivors battling Caesar's army. It's based on the Pierre Boulle novel that was first made into a film starring Charlton Heston in 1968. Peter Chernin will produce for Chernin Entertainment.
