[Movies] Five Names Up For Kyle Reese In Terminator: Genesis

Variety reports that Paramount, Skydance and Annapurna have five names reading for the role of Kyle Reese in the Terminator: Genesis reboot. Boyd Holbrook, Tom Cocquerel, Wilson Bethel, Sam Reid and Jai Courtney are all up for the role and will test on Monday. Reese was played by Michael Biehn in the 1984 original film, sent back in time to protect Sarah Connor and becoming the father of John Connor, who goes on to save humanity from the machines.

Emilia Clarke and Jason Clarke will play Sarah and John Connor. Arnold Schwarzenegger is expected to return to the role of the titular killer robot. Alan Taylor will direct. No plot has been released, but there is expected to be some time travel as Emilia Clarke and the male actors testing are all younger than Jason Clarke. Paramount initially wanted a more recognizable name like Nicholas Hoult or Garrett Hedlund, but neither wanted to read for the part.

Skydance and Annapurna will co-finance with Paramount. David Ellison will produce for Skydance and sibling Megan Ellison will produce for Annapurna. Laeta Kalogridis and Patrick Lussier wrote the script. The film arrives on July 1, 2015.
