[TV] Gotham Will Be a Bruce Wayne Origin Story
Posted by Jeremy Thomas on 01.13.2014

It was previously reported that the new Batman-themed TV series in development, Gotham, would focus on the origin of Commissioner Jim Gordon and other classic Batman villains. Now it appears that Bruce Wayne has indeed been added to the mix. Deadline reports that Fox's Kevin Reilly made the announcement at Fox's TCA presentation, saying that the series will include Bruce Wayne as well as villains like Riddler, Catwoman and the Penguin.

Reilly said, "The show will track Bruce from a child (around 12 years old) until he puts on a cape (in the finale)." As for the villains he noted, "We will see how they get to become what they are as Gotham is teetering on the edge. It is an operatic soap with a larger than life quality."

The series has a pilot commitment already and will be grabbing writers midway through next month, with a full intention to go to series.
