[Movies] Sony Buys Film Rights to Espionage Thriller The Director
Posted by Jeffrey Harris on 01.15.2014

The Wrap reports that Sony Pictures has bought the film rights to the new upcoming spy novel, The Director, by David Ignatius. Scott Rudin is attached to produce the project.

Sony and Rudin are looking for Paul Greengrass to direct the film, though a deal has not yet been signed.

Ignatius also wrote the book Body of Lies, which became a film directed by Ridley Scott and starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Russell Crowe. The Director follows Graham Weber, the new director of the CIA. A Swiss youth goes into an American consulate and informs them that the CIA has been hacked and he has the names of their agents to prove it. Weber seeks the help of an in-house cyber expert, James Morris, to infiltrate the hacker underworld to find out who is responsible.
