[Gossip] Last Female Munchkin From The Wizard of Oz Passes Away
Posted by Jeremy Thomas on 01.16.2014

The last remaining female Munchkin from The Wizard of Oz has passed away. TMZ reports that Ruth Robinson Duccini died of natural causes at a hospice center in Las Vegas at the age of ninety-five. Duccini, like many of the little people cast as the Munchkins, received no screen credit for the role. She only had one other film role, that of a "Hotel Rainbow Guest" in the 1981 comedy Under the Rainbow which used the Munchkins as a plot element.

Duccini worked on airplanes in a defense plant during World War II, naming that in a March 2013 interview as "the one thing that I'm most proud of." She, along with the other surviving Munchkins at the time, receieved a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2007. Duccini was one of two surviving Munchkins remaining; only ninety-three year-old Jerry Maren remains.

On behalf of 411, our condolences to the family, friends and fans of Ms. Duccini.
