Brian K. Vaughn expects some news on Y soon…
Comic Book Resource reports that Y: The Last Man creator Brian K. Vaughn has said that the film rights to the comic could soon revert back to himself and co-creator Pia Guerra if production does not begin on the proposed film soon.
Vaughn said, "It's my understanding that the rights to 'Y: The Last Man' will revert back to co-creator Pia Guerra and me for the first time in a decade if the planned New Line adaptation doesn't start shooting in the next few months. So I expect there will be some 'Y' news in 2014 either way."
A film based on the comic has been developed as far back as when it debuted in 2002. The most recent script was drafted by Matthew Federman and Stephen Scaia. The story follows Yorick Brown, a young man who along with his pet monkey Ampersand survive a devastating plague that killed all the males and creatures on Earth with a Y-chromosome. Yorick then goes on a quest with a government operative to uncover the truth behind the plague and reunite with his lost girlfriend.
