CBS wins the night...
The Following returned to its normal time slot last night but came back to disappointing numbers for FOX. It had a huge drop from its NFL-led premiere last week but also fell below its overnight average from last season. Meanwhile, How I Met Your Mother had its best 18-49 rating in nearly a year and its biggest total audience since December 2011 with its 200th episode. CBS' other comedies got their best ratings of the season, giving the network a win. The Bachelor, Hollywood Game Night and The Blacklist were all up while Hart of Dixie was about the same for The CW.
CBS won with 9.1 million viewers and a 5.5 rating/9 share in households. It was followed by ABC (8 million, 5.3/8), NBC (6.7 million, 4.1/6), FOX (just under 5 million, 3.1/5) and The CW (1 million, 0.7/1). In the adults 18-49 demographic, CBS won again with a 2.5 rating followed by ABC (2.1), NBC (1.8), FOX (1.6) and The CW (0.3). Here is the Monday hour by hour:
