Comedy opens May 9...
In an interview with Coming Soon from the set of Neighbors (which opens May 9), Seth Rogen talked about his character in the film. Nicolas Stoller directed the comedy, which also stars Zac Efron. Here are highlights:
On his working with director Nicolas Stoller: "Nick is super open and he's not, like, protective of what he's doing really in an aggressive way. We really learned how to do this the same way. Me and him, we shared an office on ‘Undeclared,' literally. We learned how to write together in a lot of ways. We both were exposed to production in the same way, really, especially from behind the scenes."
On his character Mac's relationship with Efron's character Teddy: "[Teddy is at] the moment in his life where there are really no repercussions, and he's kind of not really yet an adult. Because I'm so kind of jealous and resentful, I try to destroy that… [Mac] is just really grappling and in denial about the fact that he can't do all the fun sh*t that Zac does on a regular basis in the movie… I think part of what's funny about the movie is [Teddy] recognizes that he might be me in 10 years also."
On Rose Bryne's character: "A big thing in the movie is that me and my wife are always on the same team. That was something that was important to us. That she not be the traditional naggy wife who's trying to stop me from doing fun sh*t. There's almost no conflict between me and her in the movie. Every time I want to party with them, she wants to party with them. Anytime I want to f*ck with them, she wants to f*ck with them. We're really like a unit."
