[Movies] Seth Rogen and Joseph Gordon-Levitt Working With 50/50 Director On New Film
Posted by Joseph Lee on 02.11.2014

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Seth Rogen will reteam with 50/50 director Jonathan Levine for a currently untitled Christmas comedy. Sony beat several other studios (including Unversal and Paramount) for the film which is being set up for a summer 2014 start date.

The film follows three childhood best friends who reunite in New York City for their annual tradition of going out on Christmas Eve. Gordon-Levitt and Rogen will play two of the friends, with the third not cast yet. The film will also reunite the three with Joe Drake and Nathan Kahane, whose company Good Universe (formerly Mandate Pictures) produced and co-financed 50/50. Rogen and Evan Goldberg's Point Grey Pictures will also produce. Sony has a strong relationship with Point Grey after last year's This Is The End. They are also making Rogen and Goldberg's The Interview, which is set in North Korea.

Untitled Xmas Comedy was written by Levine. Rogen, Goldberg and Point Grey's James Weaver are producing. Drake and Kahane will executive produce with Kyle Hunter and Ariel Shaffir. 50/50 followed a 27-year-old man, played by Gordon-Levitt, who was diagnosed with cancer. It was a hit critically and was even nominated for a best picture Golden Globe. It made $39 million worldwide from an $8 million budget.
