[TV] First Photo Revealed Of Suicide Squad In Arrow
Posted by Joseph Lee on 02.21.2014

CBR has the first photo of the Suicide Squad as they will appear in an upcoming episode of Arrow. The group will include Ben Turner/Bronze Tiger (Michael Jai White), Mark Scheffer/Shrapnel (Sean Maher), Floyd Lawton/Deadshot (Michael Rowe), Lyla Michaels (Audrey Marie Anderson), Diggle (David Ramsey) and Amanda Waller (Cynthia Addai-Robinson).

The team was hinted at earlier in the season as Amanda Waller (director of A.R.G.U.S.) debuted and then later recruited Bronze Tiger in "Tremors" this past January.

Executive producer Andrew Kreisberg said: "Dig was our way into Amanda Waller, and in this episode, Amanda comes to Dig and Lyla, and she recruits Dig for a mission, and tells him he's going to need a team -- and she saddles him with the Suicide Squad."

The group has been around since the Silver Age of DC comics, but the more modern version was created by writer John Ostrander in 1987's Legends #3. The latest series began in September 2011 as part of DC's New 52 launch. It will conclude in April with issue #30. The group in the TV show appears to have the same origin as the comics: Amanda Waller offers supervillains the chance to take on black ops missions for the government in exchange for shorter prison sentences. Bronze Tiger and Deadshot were on the original team and Shrapnel has been a member in the past.

The episode "Suicide Squad" was written by Keto Shimizu and Bryan Q. Miller. It will air at 9 PM ET on March 19 on The CW.
