[Movies] Sony Pictures Developing Console Wars
Posted by Jeremy Thomas on 02.23.2014

Two years after it was first reported, Sony Pictures is moving ahead on development for the upcoming book Console Wars: SEGA, Nintendo and the Battle that Defined a Generation. The book is a "business thriller" that looks at SEGA and how it went head-to-head with Nintendo in the early 1990s console market. Atlantic Books announced via press release that the film will be developed by Sony and directed and written by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg. Blake J. Harris, who wrote the book, will be an executive producer. He's also co-directing a documentary on the subject.

Atlantic Books' Toby Mundy said in the announcement, "Blake Harris's amazing book has all the narrative drama of the work of Michael Lewis and Ben Mezrich. It should appeal to gamers and non-gamers alike." For reference, Mezrich's books have been turned into films like 21 and The Social Network while Lewis wrote the books that The Blind Side and Moneyball were based on.
