[Movies] Luke Bracey Cast in Point Break Remake
Posted by Jeremy Thomas on 02.24.2014

Luke Bracey is set to play Johnny Utah in Alcon Entertainment's Point Break remake. Alcon co-founders and co-CEOs Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson announced the casting today, with Bracey playing the role that Keanu Reeves played in the 1991 film. Bracey joins Gerard Butler, who is playing Patrick Swayze's role of Bodhi.

Much like the old film, the remake focuses on Johnny, a young FBI agent who goes undercover to infiltrate a criminal gang in the world of international extreme sports. The original had the criminals as surfers. Ericson Core (Invincible) is directing from a script by Kurt Wimmer (Salt, Law Abiding Citizen, Total Recall).

Bracey is best known to American audiences for his role as Cobra Commander in G.I. Joe: Retaliation, where he replaced Joseph Gordon-Levitt. In his native Australia he played Trey Palmer on the popular soap opera Home and Away.
