[Movies] Sony Pictures Acquires Horror-Comedy The Final Girls
Posted by Jeffrey Harris on 02.27.2014

Screen Daily reports that Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions has picked up the horror-comedy The Final Girls.

The project began development in 2011 with Todd Strauss-Schulson (A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas) attached to direct the project at New Line. The story, written by Mark Fortin and Josh Miller, follows a teenaged girl and her friends being sucked into a 1980's slasher film that her mother starred in.

Under Sony Pictures, Malin Akerman (Watchmen) and Taissa Farmiga (American Horror Story: Coven) are attached to star, likely as the mother and daughter respectively. Shooting is slated to begin in April.
