[Movies] Godzilla Director Lists His Height As 350 Feet Tall
Posted by Joseph Lee on 02.28.2014

IGN reports that director Gareth Edwards screened twenty minutes of Godzilla in London and also participated in a Q&A. Five scenes from the film were shown, these include an incident at a power plant, an interrogation, a sequence in Hawaii, an action scene in and around a train and the "Halo jump" from the teaser.

Here are highlights of the Q&A:

- Edwards liked that the 1954 film was a serious take on a monster movie and that's what he wanted to do.

- The story is about man vs nature, and how man cannot defeat nature. It's also about a family that was "torn apart" by a natural disaster in Japan fifteen years ago.

- Gareth said he hadn't seen Breaking Bad when he hired Bryan Cranston. He wanted to work with him because of Malcolm in the Middle and an episode of Airwolf.

- Godzilla is 350 feet high, the biggest Godzilla yet. This was selected so he could be tall enough to be seen from anywhere in a city but small enough that he can still be obscured.

The film will be released on May 16.
