[Movies] Oscar Results: 12 Years a Slave, Gravity Top 86th Annual Academy Awards
Posted by Jeremy Thomas on 03.03.2014

Gravity and 12 Years a Slave were the big winners at the 86th annual Academy Awards. Gravity took home the most awards with seven; the sci-fi thriller won Best Director for Alfonso Cuaron plus Best Visual Effects, Best Sound Mixing, Best Sound Editing, Best Editing, Best Cinematography and Best Score. The film lost out in the Best Picture race though, which went to 12 Years. The slavery-themed film picked up the foremost statuette along with awards for Best Supporting Actress (Lupita Nyong'o) and Best Adapted Screenplay (John Ridley).

The other acting awards went to Dallas Buyers Club, which took home one each for Matthew McConaughey (Best Actor) and Jared Leto (Best Supporting Actor), and Blue Jasmine's Cate Blanchett for Lead Actress.
