[Movies] Lionsgate Picks Up North American Distribution Rights for Bigfoot-Themed Horror Movie Exists
Posted by Jeffrey Harris on 03.08.2014

Lionsgate has officially announced that they have acquired the North American distribution rights to Exists, a new horror film from Eduardo Sanchez, the director of The Blair Witch Project. The film recently was shown at a sold out midnight showing at the SXSW Film Festival in Austin, Texas.

The story follows five friends on a camping weekend in the remote woods of East Texas who find themselves in a struggle for survival against a predator that is stronger, smarter, and more terrifying than anything they could've imagined.

The film stars Chris Osborn, Dora Madison Burge, Roger Edwards, Samuel Davis, Denise Williamson and Brian Steele. It was produced by Jane Fleming, Mark Ordesky, Robin Cowie and J. Andrew Jenkins. The creature work was designed by Spectral Motion.

Speaking on the announcement, Sanchez stated: "I'm really excited about working with the talented team at Lionsgate. We've had great history together and they really understand 'Exists' and see the tremendous opportunity to reboot Bigfoot for a new generation."

Producers Fleming and Ordesky said on the news: "It is especially gratifying to sell the film at SXSW in Austin so close to Bastrop, Texas where we shot 'Exists' with an amazing Texas-based cast and crew. We look forward to working with Lionsgate to bring Ed's vision to the masses."
