Posted by Jeffrey Harris on 03.08.2014

THR reports that director Scott Kalvert, who previously directed The Basketball Diaries, died earlier this week on Wednesday (March 5). His death is being investigated as a possible suicide by the LA Coroner's Office.

Kalvert was 49 years old and was found in his home in Woodland Hills on Wednesday. He was later pronounced dead at 1:55PM.

Besides Basketball Diaries with Leonardo DiCaprio and Mark Wahlberg, Kalvert also directed the famous music videos for DJ Jazzy Jeff and Will Smith's "Parents Just Don't Understand," Salt-N-Pepa's "Shoop," and Mark Mark and the Funky Bunch's "Good Vibrations." He also directed the 2002 film Deuces Wild, which starred Stephen Dorff and Brad Renfro. His last credit was as an executive producer for the 2009 Nickelodeon musical School Gyrls.
