[Movies] Shooting Locations Revealed For Avengers: Age of Ultron
Posted by Joseph Lee on 03.13.2014

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Marvel Studios will sign a deal with the Korean Film Council (KOFIC) in Seoul next week for the location shoot of Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Parts of the film will be shot there from March 20 to April 12 near the bridges on the Han River in the middle of the sity, including the Jamsil and Mapo Bridges. The bridges were used in the Korean film The Terror: Live last year. Another area that will be featured is the Gangnam district, made famous by Psy. This includes the Cheongdam Bridge, Teheran Boulevard, and Gangnam Station. Other locations include Sangam DMC (where major media and entertainment companies are located) and Yongsan (location of a US military base).

The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, Korean culture ministry and other film organizations met on Wednesday to talk about getting ready for the shoot, since many of the scenes will be shot in the city's most crowded (with people and traffic) areas. Police held another meeting today to talk about dealing with the crowd, since the film will get the attention of many fans due to locally popular stars like Scarlett Johansson and Chris Evans (thanks to Boon Joon Ho's Snowpiercer).

A spokesperson said: "We believe the film will contribute to the growth of local tourism and revamp the national image, so the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency fully supports the filming of Avengers here. We will do our best to manage the traffic according to the venue and time, so we can minimize possible discomfort for local citizens."

Marvel will sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the KOFIC for local support during filming and to promote tourism in Korea. The Korea Tourism Organization, Seoul Film Commission, Gyeonggi Film Commission, Goyang Industry Promotion Industry will be a part of the agreement, which will be signed at the Korea Press Center in Seoul on March 18. The film has already shot scenes in Johannesburg and will also film at Shepperton Studios in the UK.
