[Movies] Kevin Feige Says Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver Won't Be Inhumans in Avengers: Age of Ultron Posted by Jeffrey Harris on 03.13.2014
They can’t be called mutants…
Speaking to The Huffington Post, Marvel Studios head and The Avengers: Age of Ultron producer Kevin Feige was asked about how Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver would be classified in the sequel and the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Since 20th Century Fox currently owns the film rights to the X-Men and the term, "mutant," that led to speculation onto how Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver, who are mutants in the Marvel Comics and the biological children of Magneto, might be classified. For legal reasons, they can't be referred to as the traditional interpretation of mutants in the Marvel Comics. Feige clarified that the twins will not be classified as "Inhumans" in Age of Ultron. When Feige was asked if "Inhumans" would be used to get around not being able to use the term "mutant," Feige stated, "As it relates to Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver? No. No, no, no."
Feige also said that they Marvel Studios is looking at the Inhumans story and thinks it has potential for a great movie, but it's not being linked to Age of Ultron.
