[Movies] Woody Harrelson Joins The Cast Of Triple 9
Posted by Joseph Lee on 03.18.2014

Deadline reports that Woody Harrelson (True Detective, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay) has joined the cast of John Hillcoat's heist film Triple Nine. The film will being production this summer and will get a wide release next year from Open Road Films (who pre-bought domestic rights before the Berlin Film Festival).

Harrelson will play Sergeant Detective Jeffrey Allen, the uncle of the cop played by Casey Affleck. The two previously starred together in Out of the Furnace last fall. The rest of the cast includes Chiwetel Ejiofor, Kate Winslet, Michael B. Jordan, Aaron Paul, Teresa Palmer and Gal Gadot. The script was written by Matt Cook.

The film follows a group of dirty cops who are blackmailed by the Russian mob to complete heist which is "virtually impossible". The only way to do it is to set up a 999, which is police code for "officer down". Their plan is thwarted when the rookie they set up to die stops the attack and it all falls apart from there into a finale of "double-crosses, greed and revenge."

Paul Green will executive produce. Anonymous Content's Steve Golin, Keith Redmon and Bard Dorros will produce with Sierra/Affinity.
