[Movies] Tom Savini Rumored To Direct Next Friday the 13th Sequel
Posted by Joseph Lee on 03.22.2014

Shock Till You Drop reports that special effects master Tom Savini may be the director for the next Friday the 13th. Savini has experience with the series, providing makeup effects for the first and fourth films. He also directed the 1990 remake of Night of the Living Dead. His last job directing was for the short "Wet Dreams" in the anthology film The Theatre Bizarre.

The latest Friday sequel will arrive on March 13, 2015. It is rumored that Platinum Dunes is going to take a found footage approach to Jason's next adventure.

A source (Shock reader "Pizowell") said: "My camera died after shooting over 40 minutes of the Friday 4 panel discussion at Mad Monster Party, and just before Tom Savini announced that he was being "courted" to direct the next Friday the 13th movie. But you heard it here first, people: Tom Savini MAY be directing the next Friday.

It's also rumored that some directors have passed on the sequel because of the "found footage" angle.
