[Movies] Scarface Remake Circling New Director
Posted by Jeremy Thomas on 03.24.2014

Scarface's remake just about has its director. The Wrap reports that Pablo Larrain, who directed the Chilean Oscar-nominated No, is in talks to direct Universal's remake of the classic story, which was first told in 1932 starring Paul Muni. Most people of course recognize the Al Pacino-led 1983 film more readily.

The new film is set in modern-day Los Angeles and will focuses on a Mexican immigrant who makes a rise and fall in the crime world.

The plan, according to the site, is to cast an authentic Latino who is bilingual and bicultural as the lead character, whose name will be Tony, though his last name won't be Camonte (1932) or Montana (1983)."
